Check Summit County Court Calendar

Start with the notice the court sent you, then check it against the Summit County court calendar before every hearing. The Clerk of Court at the Summit County Justice Center in Breckenridge keeps the official record for County and District Court cases, and the clerk's office can confirm any date over the phone. Towns like Frisco and Breckenridge run their own municipal sessions on separate calendars. Dates can move, so a courtroom, case number, and event type matter as much as the day itself. When sources disagree, the signed order wins. Judge names shift too, so trust the current entry over an older one.

The Summit County Court Calendar

Colorado offers a free statewide tool. The Colorado Judicial Branch Docket Search is the best place to check daily settings for Summit County. Know what it is, though. It shows a day's calendar, not a full case file. A typical Summit County result lists plenty. Expect the date and time, the location, the courtroom or division, the judicial officer, the case number, the caption, and a short hearing description. Because the display adapts to your screen, columns may not always look the same.

Other documents can carry a setting too. A Summit County case ROA, a written notice or order, a division calendar, or a town municipal calendar may each show a date. Treat them as clues. Before you trust a matching party name, confirm two things. Check the Summit County case number and the court level.

Summit County Daily Docket Search

The daily docket tool wants a date plus a county or location. Pick Summit County, or choose the Summit County Justice Center directly. From there, a courtroom or division filter can narrow results. It draws on the county's published divisions. What comes back is the day's list of Summit County settings. It is not a broad party-name search.

Write down the Summit County case number and the event text. With those details, the clerk can quickly confirm which setting stands.

How to Find Your Court Date

There is more than one way to reach the Summit County court calendar. Start with your written notice. When remote sources clash or your case does not appear, the Summit County clerk is the fallback.

  1. Read the Summit County notice, summons, or ticket for the court name, case number, date, and appearance terms.
  2. Search the free daily docket by date and Summit County location.
  3. Match the full Summit County case number, courtroom, and event type, not just the caption.
  4. Check the Summit County ROA through CoCourts or request it from the clerk for later reset entries.
  5. Call 970-453-2272 or ask at the Summit Combined Courts counter when records conflict.
  6. Use the relevant town clerk or printed municipal calendar for a town-code or municipal ticket.

Summit County also accepts requests by mail at P.O. Box 269, Breckenridge, CO 80424. Email works too, at 5thJDclerks@judicial.state.co.us. Authorized fax and the state record form are further options.

Reading a Court Setting

One row on a Summit County court calendar only makes sense when you read its fields together. The time might mark a docket call or a single individual setting. The room ties the event to a division. And the event description signals what the court expects. That might be an advisement, a motion hearing, a return, a trial, or a review.

DateThe scheduled Summit County day, subject to a later order or reset.
TimeThe posted Summit County start or docket-call time.
CourtroomThe Summit County room or division assigned to the event.
JudgeThe public judicial officer associated with the Summit County setting.
Case numberThe safest field for matching the Summit County calendar row to the case.
Setting typeThe Summit County event, such as advisement, return, motion, status, trial, or review.

Never read a result into an event label. A "disposition" setting can sit on the calendar with no hint of what actually happened later.

Summit County Court Setting Terms

Short calendar labels describe a hearing's purpose, not the whole case. Learn the local terms and the Summit County court calendar gets easier to read.

The Summit County criminal stage at which a plea is entered.
Civil return

Resets, Continuances, and Cancellations

A vacated setting can linger. It may stay on the Summit County court calendar even after the ROA posts its replacement. Seeing "continued" or "reset" only tells you history; it does not mean the old date still governs. Line up the newest docket event against the latest signed notice or order. If they disagree, call the Summit County clerk with your case number in hand.

Why a cancellation happened is often invisible. A ruling, a settlement, a plea, a closure, or bad mountain weather could all be behind it. The calendar may say none of that. Resist guessing. A signed order or a current confirmation from the clerk beats any older search result. The Summit County case search can help you pull the ROA before you dial.

Summit County Current Date Check

Two Summit County dates on the screen? Compare their event descriptions and entry dates side by side. Find the later ROA entry first. Then look for words like continued, reset, vacated, or cancelled. Read any minute order it references. Last, double-check the assigned courtroom and judge. A move can change more than the day.

Current-setting check: The newest signed order and direct court confirmation control over a stale daily calendar row.

With a Summit County hearing close at hand, call 970-453-2272. A lag on the website never changes a court order.

Summit County Municipal Court Calendar

Each town keeps its own municipal court rhythm. Frisco Municipal Court convenes the third Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. The shared Silverthorne/Dillon/Keystone Municipal Court posts Wednesday dates and asks parties to arrive by 8 a.m. It requires appearances in person. Breckenridge's official 2026 materials describe second and fourth Wednesday sessions.

Holidays and mountain weather can break any pattern. Confirm the specific session instead of trusting the normal week.

Summit County Civil Return Calendar

Summit Combined Courts sets civil returns at 4 p.m. on any weekday. That is a local civil-calendar rule. It is not a universal hearing time. A motion, status conference, or trial can land in a different slot on the Summit County court docket. Read the event type on the notice. The daily docket lists it too.

The clerk counter closes from 4 to 5 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays for staff meetings. Plan on two trips if a return and a late counter request both need doing, or call ahead first.

Published building hours do not override this twice-monthly closure.

Summit County Virtual Appearance Rules

A courtroom livestream is for observation only. The Judicial Branch warns that watching does not count as appearing. That mistake can mean a failure to appear and a warrant. Webex also requires advance approval. A meeting code on the Summit County court calendar does not grant permission by itself.

Ask the court before your setting. Use the exact code for the assigned room. Follow any interpretation routing, and for disability access call Clerk and ADA coordinator Heidi Hershberger at 970-547-2613; the self-help coordinator is at 970-328-7036 with Friday virtual office hours from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

What To Do If You Miss a Setting

Act fast. Check the newest Summit County court calendar and ROA entries. Then call the clerk or contact counsel. Give the case number, court level, missed date, and event type, and ask whether an order, warrant, new setting, or other court action has entered. A clerk can explain the docket but cannot give legal advice.

Missed setting: A missed appearance can lead to further court action, including a warrant when the case and order allow it.

Contact the court immediately and follow its direction before trying to appear at an unconfirmed time.

For a municipal matter, call the town clerk named on the citation. The Summit Combined Courts line lacks every town docket.

Summit County Weather Date Checks

Mountain weather makes same-day checks worth it. Start with the Judicial Branch court page and the current docket. Call the court if a hearing is near. A general closure may not name your new date. The replacement belongs in a later court notice, ROA entry, or clerk confirmation.

A closure is not a dismissal. Nor does a stream link promise a virtual event. Preserve the notice, note the time of each check, and follow the court's current instruction. Jury reporting follows the separate Colorado Judicial Branch jury channel, whose current notice can change or cancel a reporting instruction.
