Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name, case number, or other query entered in a search box is sent to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the request under its own systems and returns any result. Summit County Court Docket does not retain or log those query terms on its own servers.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be kept long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It is not voluntarily disclosed outside the operating team, except when a valid legal duty requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
Normal server and analytics logs can collect technical facts when a page loads, including:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help measure traffic in aggregate, such as which pages are read and where a visit ends. Browser controls can block or remove cookies, although some site functions may then behave differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing errors and maintaining reliable page delivery
- Routing a submitted search to the provider that runs it
- Measuring which resources are useful and which need revision
- Supporting advertising, including interest-based ads where permitted
- Monitoring performance and security
No Court-Record Data on File
Summit County Court Docket does not host, sell, or compile a database of court dockets or personal case records. Official state case records remain with the Clerk of Court at Summit Combined Courts; municipal clerks keep their own town matters. Colorado's Chief Justice Directive 05-01 controls public court-record access, while CJD 08-02 addresses electronic access cost recovery. Those rules govern court custodians, not this private reference site. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention periods, sharing rules, and prices apply to data submitted through those tools. Review a provider's policy before sending a query because this policy does not control the provider.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Colorado Judicial Branch pages, municipal court resources, legal-aid organizations, CoCourts, or other services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's policy governs the visit. Read it before sharing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own technology to measure activity across websites and select ads. That processing occurs under the provider's controls.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold by Summit County Court Docket. Limited information may be available to:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards protect collected information. No internet service can promise absolute security, however, so the site cannot guarantee that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A verified request concerning information submitted by a minor will be addressed promptly.
Your Data Rights
Applicable privacy and consumer-protection law may provide rights beyond this policy. Court-record access is a separate issue governed in Colorado by CJD 05-01 and other record-specific rules. For data held by this website, a visitor may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as site practices or legal duties change. A revised version will appear here with its new effective date.
